Ready to kick off its second edition from July 3rd to 11th in Rimini and Riccione, the Italian Global Series celebrates the 60th anniversary of one of the most iconic franchises in the history of television and cinema: Star Trek . To mark the occasion, the event will host a major special event entirely dedicated to the sci-fi universe created by Gene Roddenberry, bringing the franchise’s most beloved faces to Riccione, including returning stars and the stars of the new generation.
The festivities will begin on Tuesday, July 7, in the Sala Polissena of the Palariccione , which will host a unique conversation between producer David W. Zucker ( The Good Wife , The Terror , Dope Thief ) and Nicholas Meyer (director and screenwriter of the saga’s historic second installment in 1982 and its sixth installment nine years later). The two figures will reflect on the evolution of international television series, including writing, production, and worldbuilding, retracing some of the most influential experiences in contemporary television and cinema, from the cultural impact of Star Trek to major American series productions.
On Wednesday, July 8th at 10:30 pm, the Sala Concordia at the Palariccione will host the screening of the first episode of the highly anticipated fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds , released on Paramount+ on July 23rd . Series stars Anson Mount , Rebecca Romijn , and Celia Rose Gooding will take to the stage.
Joining them will be two absolute legends of the franchise: actress Jeri Ryan (the famous Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard ) and director and screenwriter Nicholas Meyer . The panel will be moderated by Emanuele Vietina, director of Lucca Comics & Games.
In the fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds , the crew of the USS Enterprise—led by Captain Christopher Pike—embarks on a series of thrilling and tense adventures among the stars. On their journey to strange new worlds, they will battle internal demons and external threats, meet colorful new characters, reconnect with familiar faces, and confront terrifying aliens. Through it all, they will strive to embrace a bright and hopeful future.
The Italian Global Series , directed by Marco Spagnoli and strongly supported by the Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni , is conceived and organised by APA (Association of Audiovisual Producers), in collaboration with Cinecittà  , with the support of the Ministry of Culture , the Emilia-Romagna Region and APT Servizi Emilia-Romagna , the Municipalities of Riccione and Rimini , and AGIS , with the contribution of SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers), Enel and the FS Group.
