Stéphane Brizé to Receive the Special Award
The Premio Film Impresa 2026 will present its Special Award to Stéphane Brizé, director of A Good Little Soldier (Un bon petit soldat), his new film competing at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The award ceremony will take place on September 8 at 3 p.m. at the Italian Pavilion at the Hotel Excelsior, as part of the official calendar of events promoted by Cinecittà.
Recognized by the Biennale as an official collateral award of the Venice International Film Festival, Premio Film Impresa is honoring Brizé for his ability to offer a complex, nuanced and honest reflection on work, individual responsibility and the transformations affecting both professional life and society.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by the film’s stars, Alba Rohrwacher and Vincent Lindon.
A Film About the Contradictions of the Workplace
Distributed in Italy by I Wonder Pictures, Un bon petit soldat follows Carla, a corporate executive who has recently been appointed Head of Human Resources at a major company. Her role is to promote employee well-being while simultaneously meeting the performance targets set by her superior. When she uncovers a case of toxic corporate management, Carla is forced to confront a series of compromises that gradually push her to the limit.
With the film, Brizé continues his longstanding exploration of social realities and workplace dynamics, themes that have played a central role in much of his filmography. The French director has developed a distinctive body of work examining the relationship between individuals, work and society, bringing the tensions and contradictions of professional life to the forefront of contemporary cinema.
Connecting Cinema, Business and the World of Work
The film’s themes closely reflect the mission of Premio Film Impresa, a project conceived and organized by Unindustria with the support of Confindustria, which uses cinema to explore the value of work, business and the people who shape them.
“With Un bon petit soldat, Stéphane Brizé once again looks at the workplace as a space where professional decisions directly affect people’s lives,” said Mario Sesti, the award’s artistic director. “The film explores the contradictions faced by those who must reconcile employee well-being with the needs and objectives of a company, placing a profoundly contemporary conflict at its center.”
Giampaolo Letta, president of Premio Film Impresa, added that
“the Venice award represents an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between cinema and business culture through the work of major filmmakers.”
The ceremony will also feature Maria Raffaella Caprioglio, president of Umana, a leading Italian employment agency and partner of Premio Film Impresa since its first edition.
Simona Anelli, General Manager of Premio Film Impresa, said the Venice event will further expand opportunities for dialogue between cinema, companies and industry professionals. The Special Award will also mark the launch of the 2027 edition of Premio Film Impresa, including its new regulations.
