Russell Crowe is back in crime-thriller territory with The Get Out, directed by Derrick Borte and set for release in Italian cinemas on August 26 through 01 Distribution.
Crowe stars as Manko Kapak, the owner of a nightclub who is trying to close the door on a dangerous past and settle into retirement with the woman he loves, played by Teresa Palmer. That plan collapses when two armed, masked figures, played by Aaron Paul and Nina Dobrev, rob him and leave him caught up in the world of the cartels.
At the same time, another complication arrives in the form of a mysterious man played by Luke Evans, who wants to buy Manko’s club. With threats building around him, Manko is drawn into a struggle shaped by deception, power and survival, where simply walking away may no longer be possible.
Crowe and Borte Team Up Again
The Get Out reunites Crowe with director Derrick Borte after Il giorno sbagliato. The film is adapted from Thomas Perry’s novel Strip, with a screenplay by Borte and Daniel Forte.
The cast brings together Crowe, Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer, Nina Dobrev and Aaron Paul, widely known for his role in Breaking Bad. Positioned as one of the summer’s crime releases, the film is also recommended by Radio Deejay.
Built around robberies, pursuits, unexpected decisions and a collection of unconventional characters, the film carries the spirit of crime cult titles including Una vita al massimo, Le Iene and Point Break.
An Italian exclusive from Minerva Pictures with Rai Cinema, The Get Out reaches theaters on August 26, distributed by 01 Distribution, following a series of previews in summer arenas.
