Applications are open until March 31 for the 8th edition of Forward – Trentino Producers Lab, the intensive program for Italian film producers organized byTrentino Film Commission, which will take place in Trento from April 27 to May 2, 2026, during the same dates as the Trento Film Festival, partner of the initiative.
“Forward – explains Luca Ferrario, director of Trentino Film Commission, the Trentino Sviluppo division dedicated to the audiovisual sector – is a training program focused on a central figure in the industry who often remains in the background compared to directors and authors. Thanks to a well-structured format that emphasizes the operational dimension by combining theory, practical exercises, professional meetings, and networking opportunities, it has now become a recognized event for producers at the national level.”
Forward is particularly aimed at emerging professionals who wish to consolidate their creative and editorial skills, strengthen their entrepreneurial planning capabilities, and navigate the tools and stakeholders of the market, with attention to collaboration and co-production opportunities. Candidates may apply with or without their own project, although having one constitutes a preferential qualification. Eligible projects must be in the development phase and fall within the categories: documentary feature or fiction feature. Twelve candidates will be selected based on their curriculum vitae and the quality of the submitted project.
The class will participate in five days of in-person workshops and the Industry Day on Saturday, May 2, as part of the Trento Film Festival. The work will be coordinated and led by producers Nadia Trevisan and Erica Barbiani and will address, with a practical approach, the key stages of the profession: from creative contribution to development, team definition, relationships with financiers and partners, budget construction, through to positioning choices and financing strategies. Two masterclasses are also scheduled: one on legal and regulatory aspects, conducted by attorney Elisa Vittone, and one dedicated to the role of film commissions and regional funds, with a specific focus on sustainability and Green Film certification, curated by Trentino Film Commission. The program will conclude the following week, when each participant will receive personalized advice in individual online sessions with each tutor to follow up on their project.
The initiative is organized by Trentino Film Commission with the support of partners Trento Film Festival, Fondo Audiovisivo FVG, and CNA Cinema e Audiovisivo. For the second year, the partnership with In Progress MFN, a Milano Film Network workshop, is also confirmed, which will be activated during the Industry Day, fostering connections between programs and professional communities.
