Figures of the Venice Production Bridge 2026: A Growing Business Hub for the Global Film Industry

The 15th edition of the Venice Production Bridge, held from September 3 to 9, 2026, as part of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, confirmed the market’s growing importance as a business platform for the international film industry.

A total of 3,000 accredited attendees took part across the Industry Gold, Industry Trade and Industry Professional categories, creating a concentrated environment for producers, distributors, sales agents, financiers, platforms and other industry professionals to develop new projects and partnerships.

The numbers underline the transactional nature of the event. Across its different programmes, the Venice Production Bridge facilitated more than 2,100 one-to-one meetings, connecting projects with potential financiers, producers, distributors, publishers, streaming platforms and international partners.

The Venice Gap-Financing Market remained one of the central pillars, with 371 projects submitted and 51 selected for the 2026 edition, including 37 Fiction and Documentary projects and 14 Immersive projects.

Across the three-day market, 1,402 individual meetings were organized. The programme also incorporated projects from Biennale College Cinema and the Focus on initiatives dedicated to Greece, supported by EKKOMED, and Switzerland, supported by SWISS FILMS.

From Books and Streaming to International Financing

The Book Adaptation Rights Market, now in its 11th edition, brought together 30 publishing houses and literary agencies, generating more than 527 one-to-one meetings with producers interested in acquiring adaptation rights. The programme reflects an increasingly important source of intellectual property for the audiovisual industry, connecting the publishing and screen sectors at an early stage of development.

The Bridge also strengthened its focus on international distribution and streaming. Six European and international streaming platforms participated in Meet the Streamers, holding 171 meetings with distributors, rights holders and audiovisual professionals.Meanwhile, the newly launched VPB Locations Market brought together 15 film commissions and studios from around the world, offering producers and location managers access not only to filming destinations but also to information on rebates and financial incentives.

Its first edition generated 152 one-to-one meetings, underlining the increasingly strategic role of public incentives in international production decisions. The business programme was complemented by the 14th edition of Final Cut in Venice, which focused on films in post-production from Africa and Arab countries. Six projects were selected from 83 submissions, with 40 meetings subsequently organized between project teams and potential financiers.

A Dense Networking and Market Programme

Beyond individual meetings, the Venice Production Bridge offered a substantial programme of professional events designed to facilitate networking and knowledge exchange.

A total of 75 panels and events were held, including 54 on the Venice Lido and 21 on the Venice Immersive Island.

The programme also included 50 VPB Market Screenings, giving buyers and industry professionals access to films across the official Venice selections, Final Cut in Venice and titles outside the Festival’s official selection.

The Bridge further invested in direct professional support. For the fourth consecutive year, producers and directors were able to meet international co-production consultant Katriel Schory, with 40 individual consultancy meetings taking place between September 5 and 7, alongside a dedicated masterclass for selected emerging producers. Taken together, these activities demonstrate how the Venice Production Bridge has evolved into a multi-layered business environment where financing, intellectual property, production incentives, distribution and professional development increasingly intersect.

A Digital Extension of the Venice Market

Between July 23 and September 9, its website recorded 12,790 sessions and 82,423 page views, with 4,526 users accessing the platform. Of these, 2,178 registered Industry delegates were able to access its restricted areas.

The figures point to a market that operates not only as a physical meeting place during the Festival, but increasingly as a year-round digital tool for connecting industry professionals with projects and opportunities. With its combination of project financing, rights acquisition, streaming, locations, screenings and consultancy, the 2026 Venice Production Bridge positioned itself as a key business component of the Venice Film Festival, providing a practical framework for turning projects and ideas into international production and distribution opportunities.
