An agreement has been signed between Rai and Disney+

The Disney+ catalog is expanding thanks to an agreement signed by Rai, through its subsidiary Rai Com, and Disney+, which will bring some of Rai’s most iconic titles to Disney+ subscribers.

As part of this initiative, Belve, the famous talk show hosted by Francesca Fagnani, and The Floor – Ne rimarrà solo uno, the game show to be hosted this year by Paola Perego and Gabriele Vagnato, will be available for streaming to Disney+ subscribers the day after their broadcast on Rai 2.

Furthermore, Disney+ will expand its offering of high-quality local content with a selection of must-see recent Rai titles, such as the beloved dramas The Red Band Society, Mina Settembre, My Brilliant Friend, One Step from Heaven and Màkari, as well as the docu-reality series that has become a true generational cult hit Il Collegio, which will soon be gathered in a dedicated collection on Disney+.

These titles will join the Rai content already available on Disney+ (Don Matteo, The Bastards of Pizzofalcone, Un Medico In Famiglia, Doc – Nelle Tue Mani, Inspector Ricciardi, Lolita Lobosco), complementing the offering of Disney+ original Italian productions such as The Lions of Sicily, The Ignorant Angels, AvetranaThis is Not Hollywood and Boris 4.

Through Rai Com, Rai joins a prestigious group of free-to-air broadcasters with which Disney+ collaborates across Europe, from Atresmedia and RTVE in Spain to ITVX in the UK, ARD and ZDF in Germany, and SIC in Portugal, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting and supporting local storytelling.

“For Rai, Disney is a long-standing strategic partner. With this agreement, the Public Service broadcaster becomes part of a prestigious European network characterized by a common vision aimed at enhancing local storytelling within international digital ecosystems. In recent years, RaiPlay has represented the benchmark for Rai’s transformation into a Digital Media Company: nearly 23 million active accounts (53% of the total Italian digital audience), over 7,000 catalog titles (more than the BBC), and nearly 800 million hours spent in 2025 consuming live and on-demand content represent an almost unique international case history. We felt it appropriate to complement the extraordinary role of RaiPlay with a further opportunity consistent with our Public Service function: accompanying iconic Rai content toward different audiences and consumption methods, amplifying its visibility and structurally
strengthening the Company’s digital presence and the recognition of the Rai brand in an increasingly competitive and interconnected scenario.” Stated Giampaolo Rossi, CEO of Rai.

Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, echoed this sentiment: “This collaboration with Rai will bring an even wider selection of incredibly iconic local content to Disney+ subscribers in Italy. Rai boasts a deep connection with the audience and a decades-long legacy of high-quality storytelling, and we are proud to be able to offer them to our audience on Disney+. Building on over 40 years of collaboration between Disney and Rai in Italy, this initiative also aligns with our global approach of partnering with free-to-air broadcasters across Europe, helping them bring their stories to a wider and younger audience, while offering Disney+ subscribers even more extraordinary local entertainment and new ways to enjoy their favorite shows.”
