Filming begins for The Emperor’s Stone


Filming began today, Monday, March 30, for the six-part family adventure series The Emperor’s Stone: The Search of La Buse’s Treasure, funded by The Alliance, which since 2018 has brought together France Télévisions, Rai, and ZDF with the aim of supporting innovative, high-quality television series.


The protagonist is modern-day treasure hunter Théo Levasseur, who, having discovered the diary of his famous ancestor, the French pirate Olivier “La Buse” Levasseur, sets out in search of the mythical Emperor’s Stone with his wife, son, and daughter in tow.


Filming will continue until June 24 and will be split between Rome and Sicily in Italy, and Saint-Malo in France.


Directed by Alice Troughton (with Benjamin Anderson as showrunner), it is produced by Nolita, Aircraft Pictures, and Legend Factory, in association with CBS Studios, Film Afrika, co-produced by Beside Productions and Viola Film, and in co-production with France Télévisions and ZDF.

In addition to the three Alliance broadcasters, the series will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
The cast includes Colin Morgan (Merlin / L’ombre d’un fils), Antonia Desplat (Plaine Orientale / Shantaram / Made in France), Tomer Sisley (Largo Winch / Messiah / Vortex), Rafael Griso, Rocío Luz (Those About to Die / Motorvalley), Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans / Fortitude), Lola Jenkins, Andreas Schröders (Tatort / Charlie’s Angels), Gabrielle Scharnitzky (Call My Agent Berlin / Hijack), and Marco Bocci (Unwanted / La Caccia).
