The Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) is preparing to return for its 20th edition, consolidating its role as one of the most significant events on the US cinematic landscape. The 2026 edition, announced by CEO Beth Wilbins and Artistic Director James Faust, will take place from April 23 to 30, 2026, featuring eight days of screenings, events, and meetings that will transform Dallas into a focal point for the industry and the public.
Recognized as an Oscar® Qualifying Festival, DIFF represents a strategic platform for emerging and established filmmakers, offering international visibility and concrete opportunities for access to the awards season. Over the years, the festival has strengthened its positioning within the context of high-value American events, despite the centrality of the West Coast.
The program for the 20th edition reflects this vocation, with a celebratory line-up that focuses on the value of cinema as a tool for social impact and cultural dialogue. Highlights include the announcement of the opening and closing films, along with the presentation of the DIFF Dallas Star Award to actor and director Lou Diamond Phillips, underscoring the festival’s attention to talents who have contributed significantly to the industry.

The 20th edition of the Dallas International Film Festival is distinguished by a particularly structured and symbolic program. The World Premiere of Last Shot, directed by Andy Palmer and starring Jamie Pressly, will officially open the festival on April 23 at the historic Texas Theatre, while the closing will be marked by the US Premiere of Kenny Loggins: Conviction of the Heart. Among the most significant new features is the launch of the first DIFF Industry Conference, created in collaboration with the Dallas Film Commission and featuring keynote speaker Michael De Luca (Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group), confirming the festival’s growing focus on industry dialogue. Alongside an international line-up that includes over 120 titles from more than 100 countries, the program also highlights local stories and identities, as demonstrated by Round Pegs Square Holes, dedicated to the Deep Ellum art scene.
