After the Opening Ceremony held yesterday evening in Rimini, at the Galli Theater, the Italian Global Series 2026 comes into full swing with a series of events that put the excellence of international series at the center.
At the Fulgor Cinema, at 12:30 pm, for the Italian Showcase section, the third season of Vincenzo Malinconico, unsuccessful lawyer will be presented with an exclusive clip; at 1 pm, director Alessandro Roia will talk about the making of the new RAI series Cagnàz, filmed and set in and around Rimini, in a special conversation with the Romagna actor Denis Campitelli.
At 6.30 pm, at the Palazzo del Fulgor, Fellini Museum, the master of Italian comics Stefano Raffaele, recently awarded the Coco 2026 Prize as “Italian Excellence in the World”, will inaugurate the “Spade e Pallottole” exhibition, created in collaboration with Cartoon Club & RiminiComix and the Municipality of Rimini, which celebrates the synergy between the artist and John Ridley, active in cinema, television and comics, Oscar winner in 2014 for Best Adapted Screenplay for 12 Years a Slave and author of American Crime.
John Ridley himself, at 7.45 pm at the Cinema Fulgor, will meet Carlton Cuse, showrunner of iconic series such as Lost, Jack Ryan and Five Days at Memorial, already recipient of the Maximo Excellence Award last night, for the conversation “Lost in Fellini” focused on the legacy of Federico Fellini and his influence on the contemporary cinematic and television imagination, with a particular focus on serial narrative.
Again at 8.45 pm at the Fulgor Cinema, British actor and singer Bertie Carvel, fresh from the success of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and one of the faces of the next Harry Potter series, will be the protagonist of a conversation with special reference to his artistic career.
The evening’s events will all take place at the Corte degli Agostiniani starting at 9:30 pm with an event linked to the Italian Showcase: actress Serena Rossi will present the TV series La famiglia Panini – L’avventura delle figurine, which retraces the incredible human and entrepreneurial story of the Modena family of the same name, together with director Letizia Lamartire (previously director of the series La legge di Lidia Poët, which won her the Flaiano Prize for best television direction), in a meeting moderated by the President and Artistic Director of the David di Donatello Awards, Piera Detassis.
Following this, again for the Italian Showcase, there will be a meeting with the actor Luigi Lo Cascio, who in the series L’Ombra plays a lazy policeman forced to become a sort of city “sheriff” dealing with a young masked vigilante who fights crime at night on the streets of Milan. Joining him on stage at the Corte degli Agostiniani are the directors of the series Manetti Bros. (directors and screenwriters of successful films such as Ammore e malavita, Song’e Napule and the Diabolik trilogy, as well as cult series such as L’ispettore Coliandro), along with actress Bianca Panconi and Serena Rossi, once again moderated by Piera Detassis.
The day’s program will conclude at 10:30 pm with Elena Sofia Ricci presenting the third season of the series I casi di Teresa Battaglia, announced as Figlia della cenere (Daughter of the Ashes) and inspired by the novel of the same name from the series published by author Ilaria Tuti. She will be joined by director Kiko Rosati, who previously directed the second season of the series.
