International Hub
The Canary Islands remain a strong production hub, combining generous incentives with experienced crews, established infrastructure and a wide range of locations.
Recent shoots include Day Drinker with Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in Tenerife, El ser querido in Fuerteventura, Pedro Almodóvar’s Amarga Navidad in Lanzarote, Pluribus in La Palma and Gran Canaria, and Netflix series Oasis in Tenerife.
More broadly, 2025 was a record year for audiovisual production in the Canary Islands, with 180 productions filmed across the archipelago, 17% more than in 2024. Together, they generated around €432 million in direct local expenditure, while audiovisual activity, including advertising, accounted for approximately 20,000 direct contracts.
For international productions, the tax incentive can cover up to 54% of the first €1 million in eligible expenditure and up to 45% of eligible expenditure above that amount, with a maximum benefit of €36 million
per production.
Production support is provided across the archipelago by the Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro Film Commissions, coordinated under Canary Islands Film.
