5 million euros for selective contributions allocated to animation and the confirmation of the 35% tax credit for animation works, the only audiovisual sector to benefit from this percentage due to its unique financing and production methods. This is the allocation announced by Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni at the conference “Governance and Future of Italian Animation” held in Rome at ANICA headquarters on the occasion of the electoral assembly of Cartoon Italia, the animation producers’ association. The new President of the association is Maurizio Forestieri, a Roman director and producer from Graphilm Entertainment. Anne-Sophie Vanhollebeke and Alessandra Principini have been appointed Vice Presidents. The Board of Directors is completed by Alfio Bastiancich, Cristian Jezdic, Evelina Poggi, Federica Maggio, Francesco Catarinolo, and Pedro Citaristi; General Secretary Donatella Leone.
“I trust in teamwork. This is a complex period, marked by significant changes, both on the legislative level and within the RAI system,” Forestieri stated. “I believe that, with responsibility and cohesion, we will be able to navigate this phase and strengthen the role of Italian animation. I also wish to thank the outgoing President, Maria Carolina Terzi, for the valuable work carried out over these years and for the commitment with which she has led the association.”
The Board of Directors’ commitment in the coming months includes consolidating institutional dialogue, strengthening the production chain, and increasing the competitiveness of Italian animation in domestic and international markets.
