Dutch CORE is heading to MIPCOM 2026 with a varied slate of Dutch and Flemish programming that runs from investigative documentaries and historical docudrama to vertical microdrama, non-scripted and scripted series, and children’s content. Across the line-up, titles tackle organised crime, war, childhood poverty, mental health and illness, while also making room for stories of nature, resilience, first love, and finding your place in the world.
Bold, fresh storytelling sits alongside established favourites in a line-up aimed at global audiences. Leading the new titles are investigative series The Drug Delta: The Road to a Narco State and historical docudrama The Great Offensive. On the youth side, vertical microdrama My Last Summer and coming-of-age film King of the Wanderers take on challenging themes head-on. Completing the offer is a wider slate of premium scripted, youth, and children’s programming, including Don’t Fall, Dance, Freek of Nature, KABAM!, and Those Left Behind.
Factual and Documentaries
The Drug Delta: The Road to a Narco State is a new investigative documentary series. Renowned investigative journalists Sinan Can and Rudi Vranckx examine whether the Netherlands and Belgium are sliding towards narco-state status. Tracing global trade routes from South American cartels to European ports, the series explores international organised crime networks and their impact on local security, youth recruitment, and democratic institutions. It combines unique, fly-on-the-wall access with an international perspective.
Dutch CORE is also presenting factual programming built around distinctive human-interest perspectives. A Modern Roma Fairytale follows 10-year-old Regina, a Roma girl navigating family expectations and tradition. Out of Coma offers an intimate look at patients and their families during a 14-week rehabilitation programme, following their efforts to recover and reach new levels of consciousness.
The Great Offensive, a new historical docudrama, revisits a decisive but less frequently explored chapter of the Second World War. The three-part series examines the Allied liberation of Western Europe through the rivalry between General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. Combining dramatic reconstructions with rare archival footage, the series explores the competing strategies and personal decisions behind the liberation of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Drama Series
Don’t Fall, Dance anchors Dutch CORE’s premium scripted line-up, bringing a lighter, down-to-earth approach to cancer and mental health that opens up a challenging issue for discussion among young people. After lead character Emma has had to endure her adolescence on the brink of death, she is filled with a sense of urgency about life. Now declared cancer-free, she throws herself into life at a pace few can keep up with, determined to leave Emma the patient as far behind as possible. She is well on her way to succeeding in everything when the disease that tormented her younger years rears its ugly head again.
Youth and Coming-Of-Age
My Last Summer is an innovative vertical microdrama aimed at tweens and teenagers. Exploring cancer through a raw, youth-led perspective, the series also follows the intensity of a summer crush and first love. The series became a major success in the Netherlands, generating 15 million views across YouTube and TikTok by using a digital-first format to make a challenging topic accessible and spark conversation among younger audiences.
King of the Wanderers, a 90-minute magical coming-of-age film follows 11-year-old Meissy as she reconnects with her father after years of travelling. She soon discovers that he sees things that aren’t there and believes he is a king, forcing her to question whether his fantasies are innocent or dangerous. The film addresses complex themes around mental health through a young person’s perspective while retaining a light-hearted tone. The story was developed through conversations with people with lived experience, professionals, and bystanders, winning the Grand Prix at Kinolub and premiering at Cinekid.
Nominated for an upcoming International Emmy, The Class of 2000 takes audiences back to the turn of the millennium, following teenagers navigating identity, friendships, first love, and peer pressure against a backdrop of Y2K anxiety, early internet culture, and peak nostalgia. The series is tailored for digital-first platforms and explores universal coming-of-age themes including identity, family dynamics, and sexual orientation.
Also nominated in this year’s International Emmy, Those Left Behind is a coming-of-age mini-series following 11-year-old Sven, whose summer plans collapse when his mother can no longer afford a holiday. Left behind in his village, he meets other children in similar circumstances, finding friendship, resilience, and belonging amid financial hardship. The series has been acquired by Yle, NRK, and buyers in the DACH territory.
Children’s Content
Dutch CORE’s children’s slate puts young audiences’ perspectives at its heart, taking children as seriously as adults and embracing stories that don’t shy away from challenging themes. Across the line-up, children encounter the world through stories of friendship, inclusion, nature, resilience, and overcoming their fears.
Freek of Nature follows the Netherlands’ most popular biologist, Professor Freek Vonk, as he travels the world in search of extraordinary animals. Combining adventure, science, and nature education, the series has established a strong audience among children and families, with more than 40 episodes available and a recent sale to PTS Taiwan.
KABAM!, an International Emmy Award-winning preschool drama, explores common childhood fears through ten short stories set around Mr Mo’s class. Each child uses their imagination to find a way through situations that make them afraid. The series has sold across Scandinavia, with Season 2 opening at Cinekid Festival in October and presold to DR Denmark.
Ellie the Ellie, an animated preschool series for ages 0 to 4, focuses on inclusion and friendship. Each episode sees Ellie help a friend who feels left out, using a calm, accessible format to celebrate differences and encourage children to play together. The series has sold to VRT, SVT, and HOP TV.
Lorraine Joore, Senior Sales Executive at Dutch CORE says:
“We’re looking for stories that have a clear reason to exist. That might be an investigative documentary offering access to a world that audiences rarely see, a historical story that gives a new perspective on the past, or a children’s series exploring something young audiences are experiencing themselves. What connects the titles on our MIPCOM slate is that they start with strong stories and distinctive perspectives but are made to travel. We’re looking for international partners who see the value in that combination.”
