Friuli Venezia Giulia

A BUSY 2026

With more than €2.5 million already allocated during the first two funding rounds of 2026 and a total budget approaching €3.5 million, the FVG Film Fund continues to rank among Italy’s leading support tools for audiovisual productions. Following the publication of the results of the second round, the third and final call of the year is now open until September 30th, targeting productions that choose Friuli Venezia Giulia as a location for their projects. Supported titles include, among others, Dove non mi hai portata by Daniele Luchetti, Dalla parte giusta and Storia di un marinaio, reflecting the range and quality of productions that continue to invest in the region.

Filming has meanwhile been continuing in Trieste on Nemo – Chi ha ucciso Sofia, the new six-part thriller series produced by Filmmaster Productions for Rai Fiction and directed by Carmine Elia. Filming began in late July and is expected to continue for around ten weeks across Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino, involving local crews and businesses. Starring Giacomo Giorgio, Alessandra Mastronardi and Federica Sabatini.

The Dog Stars, the new film directed by Ridley Scott, is set to arrive in cinemas on August 26th. Scott chose Friuli Venezia Giulia as the film’s main Italian shooting location, transforming the municipality of Bordano into a post-apocalyptic American landscape. The film’s upcoming release marks another achievement for the international production-attraction work carried out by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission – PromoTurismoFVG, which in recent years has brought some of the world’s most important international productions to the region.

The autumn is set to be particularly busy for the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission – PromoTurismoFVG, which will be supporting five productions simultaneously over the coming months. Among them is the new film by Gabriele Salvatores.

The Commission is already looking beyond 2026, with planning underway for projects that will take place in Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2027, continuing a period of growth that is strengthening the region’s position within the film and television industry.
