{"id":8984,"date":"2015-01-30T15:42:20","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T15:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/?p=8984"},"modified":"2026-04-10T03:30:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T01:30:16","slug":"berlinale-2015new-generation-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/it\/berlinale-2015new-generation-2","title":{"rendered":"BERLINALE 2015 New Generation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/vergine-e1422614158231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-8986\" src=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/vergine-e1422614158231-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"vergine\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Movies with a high popular impact and movies with arthouse rigor: as usual the <strong>Berlinale<\/strong> plays its cars carefully, above all keeping the former out of the competition &#8211; from the long- awaited film adaptation of the bestseller \u201cFifty Shades of Grey\u201d, which will be premiered on February 11th (at the Berlinale Special Gala), to Kenneth Branagh\u2019s \u201cCinderella\u201d, the grandiose live action adaptation of the fairy tale, the 1951 Walt Disney animation of which conquered the Berlinale, winning the Audience Award and the Golden Bear for a musical.<br \/>\nItaly is in the competition with a debut work, \u201cSworn Virgin\u201d by <strong>Laura Bispuri<\/strong>, produced by <strong>Marta Donzelli and Gregorio Paonessa of Vivo Film<\/strong>, along with <strong>Colorado Film, Rai Cinema and the Albanian Erafilm Production<\/strong>.<br \/>\nFilmed in Alto Adige with the support of the BLS, the movie is also co-produced with Switzerland (<strong>Bordcadre Films<\/strong>) and Germany (the foreign sales are being handled by <strong>Match Factory<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Isabel Coixet will open the competition on the evening of February 5th with \u201cNobody wants the Night\u201d , a co-production by Spain,France and Bulgaria, set in Greenland in 1908. Coixet is a regular at the Berlinale, like many other directors competing for the Golden Bear this year, including Terrence Malick (the winner in 1999 with \u201cThe Thin Red Line\u201d), who is bringing \u201cKnight of Cups\u201d starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman to Berlin; Werner Herzog, with his \u201cQueen of the Desert\u201d, featuring Nicole Kidman and James Franco; and Jafar Panahi with \u201cTaxi\u201d.<br \/>\nWith two Golden Bears already under his belt, Andreas Dresen (\u201cNightshapes\u201d 1999, \u201cGrill Point\u201d 2002), returns to the competition with \u201cAls wir tr\u00e4umten\u201d (\u201cAs We Were Dreaming\u201d), a French-German co-production. Peter Greenaway, often a guest of the <em>Forum<\/em> section, is bringing \u201cEisenstein in Guanajuato\u201d to the competition. Apart from Ms. Bispuri, the other debut work in competition for the Golden Bear is by Guatemalan Jayro Bustamante, which also marks Guatemala\u2019s debut in the Competition.<\/p>\n<p>There are various young Italian filmmakers in the fringe sections and many tributes to old masters of Italian cinema, like <strong>Francesco Rosi<\/strong>, who recently passed away, who the Berlinale will be remembering with a screening of \u201cMany Wars Ago\u201d, or <strong>Ermanno Olmi<\/strong>, the German premiere of whose movie \u201cGreenery will Bloom Again\u201d, will be presented at the <em>Berlinale Special.<\/em> In 2009 Olmi presented his documentary \u201cTerra madre\u201d at Berlin (also in the Berlinale Special), the brainchild of and \u2018commissioned\u2019 by the patron of Slow Food, <strong>Carlo Petrini<\/strong>, another friend of the Berlinale who, this year, will also receive the Berlinale\u2019s Camera award.<\/p>\n<p>The promising young talents of the Italian movie industry will be in <em>Generation<\/em>, the Berlinale section dedicated to movies by up-and-coming directors that deal with teenage and young people\u2019s issues, where we also find two important debuts: \u201cShort Skin\u201d, by <strong>Duccio Chiarini<\/strong>, and \u201cChlorine\u201d by<strong> Lamberto Sanfelice.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe latter arrives freshly from Sundance, where he was in competition. Written by Sanfelice and Elisa Amoroso, the picture is produced by Ginevra Elkann\u2019s <strong>Asmara Film<\/strong> with Damiano Ticconi\u2019s<strong> Ang Film<\/strong>. \u201cShort Skin\u201d is produced by Chiarini himself (<strong>La Regle du Jeu<\/strong>) with Babak Jalali and the support of the <strong>Toscana Film Commission<\/strong>, and realized within the Biennale College (previously presented at the last Venice Film Festival), distributed in Italy by <strong>Good Films<\/strong> and already sold to other countries. Another young filmmaker is representing Italy in the Forum section, <strong>Francesco Clerici<\/strong>, with \u201cHand Gestures\u201d, a documentary about the process of creating a sculpture by Velasco Vitali.<\/p>\n<p>This year serial narratives will augment the <em>Berlinale Special<\/em> programme, and the kicking off events will be the Italian series 1992, a political thriller set against the backdrop of the \u201cMani Pulite\u201d, created by <strong>Alessandro Fabbri, Ludovica Rampoldi and Stefano Sardo<\/strong> and broadcasted by Sky.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a bit of Italy, as co-producer, in <em>Lola<\/em>, the section that the Berlinale dedicates to movies pre-selected for the German Film Awards, with \u201cThe Cut\u201d a film by Fatih Akin, (a co-production between Italy, France and Germany), and \u201cThe Special Need\u201d by<strong> Carlo Zoratti<\/strong>, produced by Erika Barbiani (<strong>Videomante<\/strong>) and Henning Kamm (<strong>Detailfilm<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s presence is, however, mandatory in <em>Culinary Cinema<\/em>: amongst the movies that look into the relationship between food and cinema we find \u201cLa Ricotta\u201d by <strong>Pier Paolo Pasolini<\/strong>, \u201cWhen Italy ate in black and white\u201d by <strong>Andrea Gropplero di Troppenburg<\/strong> and the documentary \u201cOtello\u2019s secret\u201d by <strong>Francesco Ranieri Martinotti.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Movies with a high popular impact and movies with arthouse rigor: as usual the Berlinale plays its cars carefully, above all keeping the former out of the competition &#8211; from the long- awaited film adaptation of the bestseller \u201cFifty Shades of Grey\u201d, which will be premiered on February 11th (at the Berlinale Special Gala), to [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"googlesitekit_rrm_CAow3e7fCw:productID":"","footnotes":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[1],"tags":[84],"class_list":["post-8984","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-senza-categoria","tag-focus-on-italy"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.8 (Yoast SEO v27.9) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>BERLINALE 2015 New Generation - Cinema &amp; Video International<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"BERLINALE 2015 New Generation \u2013 berlinale 2015 new generation.
