We would like to keep the Berlinale as a festival for the public and for Berlin and we\u2019re looking forward to new encounters and fresh perspectives,\u201d this is how the two directors describe the task of guiding the festival which will open on February 20 with the screening of \u201cMy Salinger year\u201d by Philippe Falardeau, part of the <em>Berlinale Special Gala<\/em>, the session that has replaced the <em>Out of Competition <\/em>section and will also be hosting the festival premiere of \u201cPinocchio\u201d by Matteo Garrone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are three Italian films in competition, \u201cHidden away\u201d by<strong> Giorgio Diritti<\/strong>, produced by <strong>Palomar<\/strong>, distributed by<strong> Rai Cinema<\/strong> and sold abroad by <strong>Rai Com<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Match Factory will, instead, be handling the international sales of the other two titles competing for the Golden Bear, \u201cSiberia\u201d by <strong>Abel Ferrara<\/strong>, a co-production between Italy, Germany, Mexico and United Kingdom (<strong>Vivo Film and Rai Cinema<\/strong> with <strong>Maze Pictures, Piano<\/strong> and <strong>Rimsky Productions<\/strong>) and \u201cBad Tales\u201d by the <strong>d\u2019Innocenzo brothers<\/strong>, an Italian-Swiss co-production (<strong>Pepito Produzioni<\/strong> with <strong>Rai Cinema, Amka Films Production <\/strong>and <strong>Quantum Marketing Italia<\/strong>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also the anniversary of the <em>Forum <\/em>session, which is 50 years old and will be celebrating by re-proposing the films that inaugurated it in 1971; for Italy there will be \u201cObsession\u201d by Luchino Visconti, \u201cA Violent Life\u201d by Sergio Citti and \u201cEyes Do Not Want to Close at All Times or Perhaps One Day Rome Will Permit Herself to Choose in Her Turn (Othon)\u201d by Jean-Marie Straub, Dani\u00e8le Huillet. <br>The new proposals include \u201cThe House of Love\u201d by<strong> Luca Ferri<\/strong>, produced by <strong>Effendem Film <\/strong>with <strong>Lab 80<\/strong>, <strong>Enece Film<\/strong> and the French <strong>Prima Luce<\/strong>, and \u201cZeus Machine. The Invincible\u201d by <strong>Nadia Ranocchi<\/strong> and <strong>David Zamagni, <\/strong>produced by <strong>Zapruder Film<\/strong> and<strong> In Between Art Film<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Challenging conventions and transgressing boundaries, often also in terms of theatrical language, represent the focus of<em> Generation <\/em>where we find \u201cOrdinary Justice\u201d, the directing debut by <strong>Chiara Bellosi<\/strong>, another Italian-Swiss co-production between <strong>Tempesta, Cinedokke<\/strong> and <strong>Rai Cinema<\/strong> (sold around the world by <strong>Vision Distribution) <\/strong>and two shorts: the Italian-French documentary set in Sardinia, \u201cRenaissance\u201d by<strong> Marta Anatra, <\/strong>and \u201ctoni_with_an_i\u201d directed by <strong>Marco Alessi.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The earth\u2019s exploitation and destruction at the hands of humans is another key focus in <em>Panorama<\/em>, as can be seen in the film by <strong>Danilo Caputo<\/strong> \u201cSow the Wind\u201d, an Italian-Greek co-production between <strong>JBA Production OKTA<\/strong> and <strong>Graal S.A<\/strong>.
