{"id":36772,"date":"2019-04-03T07:37:40","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T07:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/?p=36772"},"modified":"2026-04-10T03:43:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T01:43:37","slug":"marche-land-of-animation-dauteur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/it\/marche-land-of-animation-dauteur","title":{"rendered":"MARCHE Land of Animation d&#8217;Auteur"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/catani2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36629\" width=\"274\" height=\"183\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only Italian presence at the Oscars 2019 leads to the Marche region, under the banner of animation: in fact, cartoonist&nbsp;<strong>Sara Pichelli<\/strong>, originally from Sant\u2019Elpidio, participated in the \u201cSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse\u201d project -which won the prized statue for the best animated feature film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This news once again turns the spotlight on to the long-running special relationship between the Marche region and animation which promises to result in the creation of a regional animation district.<br>But let\u2019s put things in the right order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This natural vocation is rooted in both the training activities \u2013 with reference to the&nbsp;<strong>Scuola del Libro d\u2019Arte&nbsp;<\/strong>(Art Book School)&nbsp;<strong>in Urbino&nbsp;<\/strong>as well as the&nbsp;<strong>Academies&nbsp;<\/strong>of Macerata and Urbino \u2013 and the works of filmmakers whose names increasingly appear at top international cinema events. <br>This strongly authorial characterization generated the successful neologism \u201cAnimarche\u201d &#8211; coined by the&nbsp;<strong>Marche Film Commission<\/strong>, the sector for which the&nbsp;<strong>Fondazione Marche Cultura&nbsp;<\/strong>(Marche Culture Foundation) is responsible.<br>In this way \u201cAnimarche\u201d has begun to shape itself as the qualifying brand of a composite panorama which emerged more clearly in the \u201ccensus\u201d that the Marche Film Commission conducted of Schools\/Academies and specific training structures, which was followed by a similar \u201cregister of filmmakers\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two different trends were identified: one, with industrial intentions and objectives (a brand for everything: Rainbow, which is based in Recanati), the other \u2013 which can be defined as being \u201cauteur\u201d or \u201carty\u201d \u2013 that characterizes more the region\u2019s cultural and human profile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cauteur\u201d trend, identified by its valuable and personal outline, recognizable individually but also as a \u201cschool\u201d, appears composed of single professionals, without very strong links to the marketing of the product and thus, for certain aspects, is more experimental in terms of the thematic profile and realization.<br>The confirmation and expansion of this \u201cexcellence\u201d of the Marche region has come, in recent times, from the successes of filmmakers like <strong>Simone Massi\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Roberto Catani\u00a0<\/strong>who both trained at the Scuola del Libro d\u2019Arte in Urbino and are both supported by the Marche Region through the <br>POR-FESR 2014-2020 regional development Fund (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/a-call-for-animation-projects\">read news<\/a><\/strong>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simone Massi, we should remember, led the team of 20 animators from the Marche, all trained at the Scuola del Libro in Urbino, who created the drawings for \u201cSamouni Road\u201d, the feature by Stefano Savona which won the Golden Eye Jury Award for the best documentary film at Cannes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His maestro is Roberto Catani, winner of the Grand Prix at the Sommets du Cinema d\u2019Animation in Montreal with his last animation feature \u201cPer tutta la vita\u201d, the world premiere of which was presented at the prestigious 61st Internationales Leipziger Festival f\u00fcr Dokumentar- und Animationsfilm in Leipzig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci-279x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36631\" width=\"159\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci.jpg 279w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci.jpg 954w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci.jpg 1944w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/olivucci.jpg 1392w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 159px) 100vw, 159px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting between Italian animation producers and Film Commissions organized by&nbsp;<strong>Cartoon Italia&nbsp;<\/strong>at MIA in Rome last October fits into this scenario.<br>On that occasion the proposal launched by Cartoon Italia to create regional animation districts found \u2013 as it was logical to expect \u2013 the Marche Film Commission to be among its most enthusiastic interlocutors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the film commission the Cartoon Italia initiative was the right opportunity to conceive \u201cAnimarche\u201d as a total project, structural and not episodic, aimed at promoting the Marche as the land of animation. <br>\u201cThe project\u2019s objective is to create a \u201cRegional Animation Cinema District\u201d that is \u201cstrong, qualified and detectable\u201d, announces&nbsp;<strong>Anna Olivucci<\/strong>, head of the Marche Film Commission \u201cand that is capable, first and foremost, of recognizing a regional identity that is at one with entities originating from the Marche region that are effectively (and successfully) in operation and which builds a creative production chain upon this that integrates training, production and distribution\/promotion, with a profound overall valorization of the region and its authorial and entrepreneurial skills\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The only Italian presence at the Oscars 2019 leads to the Marche region, under the banner of animation: in fact, cartoonist&nbsp;Sara Pichelli, originally from Sant\u2019Elpidio, participated in the \u201cSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse\u201d project -which won the prized statue for the best animated feature film.
