{"id":2195,"date":"2012-03-30T08:56:44","date_gmt":"2012-03-30T08:56:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/?p=2195"},"modified":"2026-04-10T03:21:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T01:21:57","slug":"miptv-2012focusing-on-coproducers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cinema.video\/it\/miptv-2012focusing-on-coproducers","title":{"rendered":"MIPTV 2012 Focusing on (Co)Producers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/miptvdedicato-ai-produttori\/mptv-2\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1577\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1577\" title=\"mptv\" src=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/mptv1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/mptv1.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/mptv1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cinema.video\/wp-content\/uploads\/mptv1.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>MIPTV, the international entertainment market, will open in Cannes on April 1st with a Gala screening of the first episode of \u201cTitanic\u201d at the Grand Auditorium in the Palais du Festival, followed by an exclusive conversation with the creators of the series distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Lookout Point (including Julian Fellowes who won an Oscar for his screenplay for \u201cGosford Park\u201d), and the customary opening party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are particularly proud to be hosting the screening of such a prestigious mini-series which, being a co-production, is very representative of this year\u2019s edition, seeing as there will be a special focus on TV drama co-productions,\u201d says Laurine Garaude, director of the TV division of Reed MIDEM.<br \/>\n\u201cProducers are increasingly looking for funding and international financial partners. And this year, they will find both at MIPTV because the world of production will be the center of attention.\u201d<br \/>\nThe number of television producers registering for MIPTV has risen by 25% compared to last year, making a total 1,220, 326 of which (as of March 21st) are \u201cnewcomers\u201d (this is also due to the introduction, from this year, of the special price of 675 Euros for producers attending MIPTV for the first time).<br \/>\nThe Drama CoProXchange will begin with a summit held \u201cbehind closed doors\u201d on April 1st at the Hotel Majestic attended by 50 VIPs (international commissioners, producers and agents), who are involved in high level co-productions.<br \/>\nThese will include Simon Vaughan, the executive producer and manager of Lookout Point (UK), one of the co-producers of \u201cTitanic\u201d.<br \/>\nVaughan mentions the fundamental role played by MIPTV and MIPCOM in the production of this series:<br \/>\n\u201cIt was here, 18 months ago, that Julian Fellowes and I, along with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, began to talk to potential partners and co-producers. So there is no better place to launch \u201cTitanic\u201d with a Gala Screening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On April 2nd there will be a series of conferences and case histories, during which the BAFTA award winning British producer Paul Abbott will talk about his long-awaited new project \u201cHit and Miss\u201d, starring Chlo\u00eb Sevigny, which is being brought to Cannes by FremantleMedia.<br \/>\nThe Case Studies will feature Oscar winning producer Iain Canning, co-founder of See Saw Films (\u201cThe King\u2019s Speech\u201d, \u201cShame\u201d) who will be revealing the secrets behind \u201cTop of the Lake\u201d, directed by another Oscar winner, Jane Campion, starring Peter Mullan, Holly Hunter and Elisabeth Moss, who is also famous for \u201cMad Men\u201d.<br \/>\nThe series is co-produced by BBC Two, UKTV and the Sundance Channel.
